Big Russ & Me

This down-to-earth collection of memories is an insight into one the most trusted and admired figures in journalism

By Claire Yezbak Fadden

In this warm and engaging memoir, Tim Russert gives readers a look inside the close-knit, Irish-Catholic community he called home in the 1950s.

Big Russ & Me: Father and Son: Lessons of Life (Hyperion, $22.95, hardcover), lets Russert recount the 1950s Buffalo, NY neighborhood where he grew up. He reflects on the strong bond that linked him to his father and the lessons and values that his dad, Big Russ imparted.

The 16-page photo insert is a wonderful visual of the Russert family that concludes with a 2003 photo of three generations of Russerts – father, son and grandson.

Probably best know as the producer and moderator of Meet the Press, Russert died of a heart attack at the age of 58. In Big Russ & Me, he leaves behind a book rich with personal anecdotes that showcase his easygoing style and straight-talking charm,
